U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Fees Increasing on December 23, 2016

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, commonly known as "USCIS", recently announced it would be increasing its filing fees for applications and petitions effective December 23, 2016. This is the first time USCIS has raised its fees since November 2010.
What is a Filing Fee?
To apply for an immigration benefit, such as a green card or a work permit, applicants and petitioners must pay a filing fee to USCIS. The appropriate filing fee must be included in the application package at the time of filing. These filing fees are typically not included in the fees that immigration lawyers charge their clients for preparing and submitting these applications.
Effect on fee increases for our clients
The Northern Virginia Immigration Law Firm, PLLC will not be raising its attorney's fees for preparing and submitting applications and petitions to USCIS. If you already have an application or petition pending with USCIS, the filing fee increase will not affect your pending application. The increase in filing fees will only apply to applications or petitions submitted on or after December 23, 2016.
